Telecommunications Authority of Maldives (TAM)

The Telecommunications Authority of Maldives has the mandate of regulating the telecommunications sector, creating an environment conducive for promoting competition in telecommunications services and developing these services in accordance with the national Telecom Policy and Maldives Telecommunications Regulation 2003.

The Authority is run by a Regulatory Board who is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Maldives Telecommunications Regulation 2003. The Regulatory Board may delegate the powers and functions of the Authority to a department, section or person working for the Authority. 

The Chief Executive is empowered by the Board for implementing its decisions in accordance with the Regulation.

The current Chairman of the Board is Dr.Hassan Hameed.  And the other board members are comprised of Mr.Shabeer Ahmed, Mr.Mohamed Anil, Ms.Aminath Shafeenaz AbdulSattar and Mr.Mohamed Amir.  Mr. Mohamed Amir is also the Chief Executive of TAM.

The Authority comprises of the following five main functional sections:

1.      Regulatory Services

2.      Standards and Technical Regulations

3.      Telecom Development

4.      Management and Public Services

5.      Legal
